What About Orange?

On May 10, 2007, I was talking on the telephone with Andrew. I was trying to calm him down over our unwillingness to stop by Dr. Rubenstein's (the boys pediatrician) office to pick up a little toy centipede to replace the one that had gone missing. While calming him down was not working that well at first, we finally got into a rhythm talking about colors.

If you have ever met Andrew, you know that his FAVORITE color is Green. For a little while, his preschool teachers were concerned that he would never get over his Green fetish. Well, not to worry. He's growing out of it slowly - at the rate of one color a year!

During our conversation about colors, Andrew told me that last year he only liked Green. But now that he is 4, he likes Red too (predominately because fire trucks are red). I then asked him what about when he turns 5 - coming up in August. He said, "Daddy, when I turn 5, I am going to like Yellow." He continued, "then when I turn 6, I am going to like Purple; and when I turn 7, I am going to like Blue; and then when I turn 8, I am going to like White; and then when I turn 9, I am going to like Brown; and then when I turn 10, I am going to like Black."

I then asked, "What happens after you turn 10?" Andrew replied, "Then I am all done Daddy."

Evidently, I've been done for about 25 years!
