Pesetskys Wed

Congratulations to Jennifer and Scott Pesetsky!

In a recent post on the Berkeley Gang, I mentioned that my long time friend (over 18 years now) Jennifer Marshall, married Scott Pesetsky on May 6, 2007. It was quite an event and a great weekend up in the Bay Area.

On Saturday May 5, 2007, Robin and I left the boys in the capable hands of Lynn and Greg Thedell (married just last year - blog to follow on that!) and flew up to the Bay Area for the wedding. We flew up with Theresa and Tony Pollock and then rented our own separate cars and headed over to Peter and Susan Cole's house (where we were staying) for a Cinco de Mayo party.

Susan and Peter have recently redone their entire house (see remodel pictures on Colevault). It is incredibly beautiful. There is one accordion glass door that opens up a 15 foot room out on to a beautiful deck. It is party central. So what did we do? That's right - party!

Lots of old friends made it out to the Cole's event - Jason McCarthy; Matthew, Jeannie and Jessica Holstein; Angie Lin (and her new family); Lillian Asperin; the list goes on. We had a great time - and a few too many Pacificos.

From there, we headed over to the Marriott down in Emeryville for Jennifer and Scott’s rehearsal dinner. We met Matthew Katz (sans Kristen - it would have been great to see her too, but she was busy taking care of Annie and Lucy back in Houston, Texas)! If you want a wonderful (and regularly updated) blog about the comedic trials and tribulations of an overstressed mother of two and her wacky (and loveable) husband, take a look at Lollyblogger. The Marriott did a very nice job setting up a pretty darn good vegetarian burrito bar. And they had Dos XX. After the dinner, we headed over to The Elephant Bar, a dining adventure, and ordered up a few more drinks and a few appetizers. Later that evening, we even got to spend a little extra time with Jennifer, the bride-to-be, chatting about the upcoming honeymoon - 63 days in Asia! A while has passed and their honeymoon is now over, but you can read about it here.

Jennifer and Scott Touched at the Rehearsal Dinner

Pollocks and Pesetskys

The wedding day was absolutely beautiful. The couple wed at the Historic Dunsmuir Estate in Oakland. What a great place for a wedding. The grounds were beautiful. There were ducks.

The couple looked fabulous and the ceremony was very moving. Theresa Pollock had a lovely reading. As did many other guests. The highlight of the ceremony were several readings by Scott’s nephews (rough ages - 4 to 11), all in Hebrew. It sounded beautiful and it was great to see the kids in action.

I had an important role in the wedding day activities. I was the civil witness. I've signed a lot of important documents over the years, but this one ranks right up there and was pretty special. Thank you for including me Jennifer & Scott!

The reception was in a beautiful hall overlooking the estate. The only thing lacking was MORE LEMONADE! It was about 105 degrees inside the hall. It was HOT. The vegetarian cuisine at the reception was fantastic. Everyone had a great time dancing (or watching other people dance). My favorite moment was watching Jason McCarthy draw pictures for Jennifer's nephew, Jack. Jason is an architect by trade and he had Jack in a trance with his drawings.

The highlight for our group - the Berkeley Gang - was a toast we gave to Jennifer & Scott. Jennifer was the last of the Berkeley Gang to get married. Some of us have been married for just a little over 2 years and others for over 10 years. Each of us gave a 1 - 2 minute speech about our advice on marriage. Of course my critical piece of advice was to "have children" and I couldn't say it without starting to cry. After the toast we all presented different champagne flutes to the couple, to represent how different we all are, and gave them big hugs.

It was a special moment for a special group of friends. Hopefully Jennifer and Scott will dance off into the sunset together. If their wedding is any indication, it looks like they will, with a little spring in their step.
